And lo, in the 4th year of the reign of Reagan*(notes below) of Tampico Illinois, a scrawny itinerant prophet from Brooklyn came unto Bethesda and proclaimed,
“Lo, the people of the earth are happy and healthy and the land is richly blessed. They know not of the great pestilence that I could create that would bring them to ruin. Let me set about to create all manner of plague and work with the alchemists and sorcerers to unwind DNA and bring fear upon the land.”
The alchemists and sorcerers gathered themselves together with King Ronald.
“We see great fortune in the words of the prophet,” they spake unto the king. “But lo, if we unleash these plagues upon the earth, surely the people will rise up and sue us. Therefore great king, cause an indemnity to be placed between us and the people so we can wrought all manner of evil upon the people for their own good and for our enrichment.”
And in the 6th year of his reign, the king caused the indemnity to pass throughout the land.
The scrawny prophet spoke unto the alchemists and sorcerers saying, “Lo, there are many in the land that engage in acts with which my church has been exceptionally familiar but for which my church seeks to evade detection. Let us make up a pestilence that we will pronounce to be associated with such deplorable acts and let us cause great fear to befall all men so that they take our venom.”
And he created AIDS.
And the people didn’t fall for the fear.
The scrawny prophet was enraged.
“Lo, we have created a pathogen and we have unleashed it with mighty fear and fury and the people have not rushed to our succor. Let us find a cunning way to instill a greater fear. Let us see if we can get the people to fear the common flu.”
So, the alchemists and sorcerers concocted mutant influenza.
And the people didn’t fall for the fear.
In the last year of the reign of Clinton the Lecherous, he called his disciple Ralph of North Carolina.
“See dear Ralph, I have unleashed the terrible AIDS and the people have not stopped living. We have unleashed mutant influenza and the people have merely sniffled. Make unto me an infectious, replication defective chimera of a coronavirus which I will say is a treatment for AIDS, and let us unleash it upon the land so that the people will one day fear my great and terrible power.”
So, in the second year of the reign of Bush the Oblivious, he created SARS.
And the people did not fear.
Rending his raiment, he called down curses from his dark lord.
“Let the pestilence reign down on the swine, on the avians, on the camels and on the bats and all manner of mink and pangolin and let the people see how truly terrible and powerful I am. And let them come to me and my alchemists and sorcerers and beg for our mercy.”
And lo, the people were not afraid of the swine and the avians and the camels and bats and all manner of minks and pangolin (for they knew not what pangolin even were).
And the scrawny prophet went unto his other disciple Peter and spake unto him saying,
“Make for me a respiratory pathogen in a land far to the East in partnership with disciple Ralph and unleash it upon the land so that these people who breathing, cannot breathe, who hugging cannot touch, who exercising cannot do so greater than 1 kilometer from their home for not more than one hour a day.”
His disciple Peter spake back unto him saying,
“I will create for your dark lord the public outcry for a pan-coronavirus vaccine. I will use the media to create the hype and we will use that hype to our advantage. Investors will follow if they see profit at the end of the process.”
And it came to pass that in the 3rd year of the reign of Trump, the scrawny prophet and his disciples did unleash the fear upon the land. And the people did fall for it.
Thus is the word of the dark lord, thanks be to Fauci.
Brothers and sisters and those who are non-binary and chose to identify as a sibling or merely a procreative extension of organic material, you are infected with SARS. You were born into SARS and even though you feel quite healthy, you are an infection. If you seek eternal life in the loving embrace of the dark lord, cast off your hesitation and flee to the loving embrace of the alchemists and sorcerers and take unto you the venom of eternal dependency. This is your moment. Thanks be to Fauci!
