Former drug user, welfare queen and now syndicated black columnist Star Parker wrote an article last week, “We Are All on Welfare Now.”
She writes, “Back when I was on means-tested welfare programs, the rules were ‘Don’t work. Don’t save. Don’t get married, and my rich uncle in Washington would reach into someone else’s pocket and provide me security and stability on his government plantation.’”
Liberals, now more properly called socialists, have strived for nearly 200 years at convincing folks to let the government run their lives and support them. When that wasn’t working fast enough, shouting plague in the world’s theater, shutting down the economy, clearing the streets and institutions, and sending relief checks got it done in 8 weeks. Shazzam!
We’re all on welfare now.
Most Americans followed the main stream media’s Covid mantra right over the cliff surrendering their Constitutional rights. Little bureaucrats carried out their mindless mission not because it was right but because that’s what they were told to win the big prize, retirement. We owe an apology for putting German officers on trial in WWII. They were just doing what they were told.
Last week, a restaurant host informed a friend that a mask was mandatory. The friend planned to eat and asked how that was possible with a mask. The zombie employee said he would provide a free mask if my friend would display it till the food arrived. When government is driving the bus, stupid makes sense.
Dr. Ratched aka Phuong Luu, Yuba-Sutter Counties’ Health Officer makes complete sense if you remove the word “health” from her title. You would never visit her for your medical needs. That is not her job.
She is a bureaucrat repeating state dogma that will make you ill and in some cases kill you. Hundreds of doctors and specialists nationally with far higher medical training than Dr. Ratched have gone public to say that wearing masks, social distancing and staying homebound is nonsensical, extremely unhealthy and will compromise your immune system.
Why then would Ratched say these things? A $300,000 plus salary may tweak her judgement a tad; she does what she’s told; is full of fear or she’s mental. What we do know is that her work is not beneficial to Yuba-Sutter’s well-being.
When the true facts come out, leaving schools, churches and businesses open and encouraging people to use caution if they felt ill would have brought similar and maybe better outcomes than what we have today. Some nations used the open approach and are doing just fine.
However now, America’s health officials are scrambling to cook the coroner books defrauding the American people by spiking the Covid death count. This may reduce the chance of random hangings of those responsible for making people sick, die, drug/alcohol relapse, overdose, beat their partner, be depressed, end their life and divorce.
Meanwhile, Marysville City Council could not resist dishing out $75,000 from the general fund to a few favored businesses. When your hand is in the till it is always easier to be generous with other people’s money. Councilmember Stephanie McKenzie is the only one who did not surrender her wits when taking the oath of office. She opposed the loan program and for good reasons.
Maysville needs a snorkel to survive its debt. It already takes an extra 1% sales tax and still is struggling. McKenzie said the city should not be in the banking business. That wasn’t its role or responsibility in the community.
She suggested the city look for others ways to help all businesses not just those 5 or 6 favored with loans. She said the city could defer receiving business licenses fees due in July and delay monthly sewage fees. The city could also waive encroachment permits allowing establishments to increase capacity by serving food and beverages on the sidewalk or in parking lots outdoor café-style.
Yuba County could have stopped illegally taking $10,000 each day in additional sales taxes via Measure K. Marysville, Yuba City, Sutter and Yuba County could have reduced or cancelled many of their fees.
Counties and cities could have worked together to hire outside attorneys to protect the businesses against punishment from the state for remaining open.
The business community would like to know if the city and county have its back when a lawless state department or government official is causing trouble. Or, are businesses just appreciated when they send in their taxes and fees?
